• Question: what would you do if someone came to you with a wound or cut that was serious but you could not heal?

      I would definitely make sure they went to hospital! As a scientist, I don’t get to work with patients face to face. I’m sure the doctors at the hospital would be able to fix it very well with stitches. There are treatments that you can use that help make things heal faster, special creams etc. I might be quite interested to know how their wound healed though – as that is right in my research interest! 🙂

      I would probably faint as I am really squeamish and can’t stand seeing people in pain. I hope I would be able to ring 999 for them though!

      We have several trained first aiders in the department to deal with simple medical problems that arise when working in the lab. But pressing the wound cleanly to slow the bleeding, and calling 999 to get trained medical help would be the best approach I think.
