      Hi!

I enjoy puzzles and trying to solve them. Often in science there are lots of questions, like puzzles, that you need to try answer by trying different experiments. Although it can get frustation when you can’t work out the answer! I also like talking and you get to do that a lot! Discussing your problems often really helps as other people often have ideas that you won’t have thought about. I like working with other people too so the social aspect is good too! And lots of other things too!

Hi! I agree with Louise. My favourite thing is also solving puzzles and mysteries. Every experiment I do gives me a clue as to exactly how our blood plasma works and so I am constantly getting new pieces to the jigsaw to see the full picture one day.

I also love to teach. When I am teaching, the students can sometimes ask me questions I have never thought about before and I really like discussing my work with other people.

I love the fact thet no two days are ever the same! I can imagine that some days are quite drab in some jobs, sat at a desk everyday. I don’t think I could do that, I love constantly having things to do. I really like presenting my work and telling people what work I do. I have also had the chance to go over to America and present some of my work, there is a company over in Chicago that help pay my wages so I need to go and tell them what work I have been doing. There are always conferences where you can go and present all over the world, so there is lots of opportunity to travel. Like Joanna, I also get to teach and I think that it’s really rewarding. I like being able to help people understand things that I remember finding difficult when I was at their stage.

      1. Finding the answers to something new and understanding how things work.

      2. Teaching and training some really bright degree students and PhD students in how to think about and analyse science data.

      3. The feeling of walking through a lab with my white labcoat billowing out like a magician’s robes! Still reminds me of the excitement I felt the first times I worked in a lab.
