It can be hard to be a scientist. But there are lots of options to work in science if you wanted a less difficult role.

I myself am a research fellow, and so I had to write and design my own project to get money to do my job. But if you wanted to work in a lab and help someone else do their experiments, that is also possible. If you wanted to be a research assistant or a technician you don’t have to do a PhD and you don’t have to worry about writing projects or getting money.

Being a scientist is really fun! Sometimes it is hard, but it is totally worth it!

I think that any job is hard work when you put 110% effort into it! I think that being a scientist is perceived as being hard but you are rewarded by discovering new things. There are lots of different roles that you can be involved with using science and not all of them need to be in a lab.

Being a scientist there are definitely some days that are harder than others, but I think that is the same in any job. There are always some days that are great and others when it really tests whether you want to be a scientist anymore. When I have a day like that I just think back to when I was doing a job that I really hated, just to get more money when I was a student. Then I remember how hard I worked to get to where I am today and how important science is in day to day life. Being a scientist is definitely not the easiest job but I love it and I can’t imagine doing anything else! 🙂

I agree with the answers already given. It is hard work being a scientist, but we do it because we all love being scientists. If you are the kind of person that always wants to know why something does this, or how something does that, then doing some research and finding out those answers is always going to be exciting.

I’ve had part time jobs in pubs, factories and kitchens and worked really hard there, but iit was a differnet kind of work.

I find as a scientist I work long hours but spend a lot of time waiting for my experiments. because we work in biology experimenst take time. So we have lots of down-time, a lot of that is taken up by thinking about theories and experiments, but it certainly is not as hectic as other jobs i’ve had.
