That’s so great that you want to be a doctor! It’s brilliant to have ambitions and to be focused.
I think a hard part is firstly deciding what you want to do. It took me a long time to decide to do Biochemistry at University and then it was also difficult to choose to do my doctorate in immunology.
University is hard, because you have to keep yourself motivated and whether you are studying to be a doctor or a lawyer or a mathematician – most degrees involve hard work and lots of studying. But it’s important to remember that the things in life worth having are all hard 🙂
I was in uni for 8 years doing a degree, a masters and then my PhD and yes, sometimes I found it really hard. But obviously, I enjoyed it too. I found it really fun to learn about new things and to ask questions, and you will make friends who will be doing the same thing as you. So you won’t be alone and you will get to have fun with new friends too.
Once you’ve worked hard for that long, actually being a doctor isn’t hard because you have learned so much and you understand what you are doing and you understand that it isn’t a problem if you don’t know everything – you just need to ask questions and keep learning.
