Absolutely essential. I still us ethe stuff i learn i school everyday in my job now.

I think its crtitical, not just to help train a new generation of enthsiastic scientists, but also so everyone has a better understanding of science and how vital it is for society

Very! So many jobs require some sort of science knowledge or background. That’s why it plays a big part in school. Hopefully it’s fun as well!

Completely agree with the others. We need great new scientists, teachers, doctors and vets. We also need business people and politicians who understand science, and who understand the scientific process of analysing data and making sense of it, so that they can make good decisions based on that data.

Adam is right, we need people in other careers to understand science otherwise when the scientists start talking about their work – nobody will understand! Teachers also need to be able to understand science, everyone in the medical profession. It’s also good for people to know for general knowledge. My mum and dad were never able to help me with my science homework! 🙂
