I wanted to be a doctor or a nurse, then I wanted to be a journalist and then I wanted to be a scientist. Have you decided what kind of career you might want to follow? I know so many people who don’t know what they want to do. I’m actually really grateful that I’ve always had an idea of what I wanted to do. I think it must be hard when nothing seems to appeal to you. Although it is still really early for you guys, I don’t think when I was you age I had even thought about a job, all I knew was that I had my favourite subjects – science! 🙂

Yes! I always wanted to be a vet or a lawyer but ended up doing science as I am a bit squeamish when it comes to blood. I think it is very difficult to decide what to do as a job – I still even now, even though I really enjoy my job, think about other things that I might like to do. I think there are often jobs or careers that you can be unaware of – for example I now know of a job a Clinical Scientist being a physicist who is in charge of operating and interpreting results from MRI and CT scanners. This would mean interacting with both patients and being a scientist interpreting data. I think the most important thing is to do something that you enjoy otherwise it won’t be much fun!

I always wanted to be an astronaut! But then I found biology and biochemistry more interesting in school so I followed that path to become a biomedical scientist 🙂

I wanted to be an archaeologist ( too much indiana jones) and then a chef before a scientist. theyre all pretty sciency though. its definietly ok ot to now what you want to do. The best thing I’ve found is tryimg some thigs out through work expereince to give you an idea what things really involve.

I only remember ever wanting to be a scientist, though when I was at school I didn’t know if I wanted to be a physicist or chemist. I ended up being neither as it happened.
