I don’t think science would be essential but Biology would certainly be useful. See https://nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk/advice/planning/jobprofiles/Pages/beautytherapist.aspx for more information about the career 🙂

      Hi Harriet,
I think biology would be useful too, will help you understand about the skin and also how to stay hygienic and prevent infections. Chemistry might be good too as it might help you understand how and why chemicals like bleach and acetone work.
      Good luck 🙂

Probably not but Biology may help, it might be useful to understand the different layers of the skin and the components of hair and nails, you nver know where you might need it. Chemistry could be useful as then you may be able to understand why you have to use different chemicals in hair dye and for acrylic nails etc. It’s always good to have a beauty therapist who knows what she is talking about! 🙂

Definitely want enough science knowledge to understand the health and safety risks of using chemicals like bleaches for hair and teeth, photobleaching of body hair, or pigments and solvents for body art.
