Question: do you enjoy work or is it really hard???:)

Yes I do enjoy my work most of the time – like many jobs though it does have its ups and downs but the ups over-rule the downs which is why I am still doing what I am. I have had to work hard to get where I am as it is a really popular career but a whole variety of people work in my lab so you don’t have to be really qualified to work here. I really enjoy doing something that makes an immediate impact on someones life. Sometimes the information that we get isn’t good news (i.e. diagnosing someone with Huntington Disease) and that can be hard at times as you feel sorry for the patient. I would highly recommend becoming a Clinical Scientist whether it be a biochemist, virology, physicist, microbiologist or any other of the many varied roles that there are as they are all highly rewarding.
