It can be lots of fun – saw a science entertainer who exploded a balloon full of oxygen and hydrogen. Amazing bang and lots of heat even three rows back in the audience where I was sitting. But my favourite kind of science (biomedical subjects like genetics) doesn’t have too many bangs!

Yes, it can be fun! I think if you luike blowing things up, stick to chemistry – there are many more bangs in that subject compared to genetics. Although we do get to use some smelly chemicals in our experiments sometimes! 🙂

I’m the same as Adam – not many bangs go on in my lab 🙂
I do burst open cells, but they are so tiny they don’t make much of a bang!

I was a bit naughty in the lab once…. You can get something called dry ice (frozen carbon dioxide) and put in a plastic container with a sealed lid (somewhere safe of course). The pressure builds up inside the container and it then goes bang very loudly! Luckily my supervisor didn’t find out so I didn’t get into too much trouble but others in the lab got bit of a shock!
