      I think the evidence for this is quite convincing. Comparing the genes of lots of people all over the World (especially looking at the DNA that can be found in our mitochondria – the energy producing parts of our cells). And comparing the DNA data with what we know about human migration. It is remarkable how much information and understanding about the distant past we are able to get from this kind of work.

      There is far greater genetic variation in africa than many other parts of the world as it was only a very small proportion of people that migrated from Africa and made all the other continents.
