      Inbreeding in animals is not good for the offspring – because there is more homozygosity in the genes- meaning that there is more chance for bad recessive traits to be expressed (so where only one copy of the gene is needed for it to be expressed as a phenotype). So this means that “bad genes” are more likely to be inherited – including genetic disorders.
