• Question: Why do some people have dipoles and others don't?

      Dimples are basically just small indentations in the skin at the edge of the mouth. They normally only show up when people smile. It is probably due to the muscle in the cheek underneath being too short compared to normal, where people don’t have dimples. Dimples are linked to genetics and if your parents have one you have a 25-50% chance of getting one too. Some people also have chin dimples, but these are not linked to genetics though but by incomplete joining of the muscle during development. Do you have dimples or know many people or have them? 🙂

      I was momentarily very confused, thinking about molecular dipoles (where molecules have their charge unevenly spread out so one end of a molecule is negatively charged and the other end is positively charged). Oh yes, dimples. very cute,

      i was definitley confused about dipoles too, i think we spend too long in the lab!
